Link Building Strategies like directory submissions, press releases, and buying text links don’t produce the same results as they once did. But there’s one thing that still rings true, ‘A Successful Link-Building Campaign is Your Key to a Successful SEO Strategy’.
When it comes down to how you should build your campaign, you should never just choose ‘one’ way to promote your website. You have to have a smooth combination of proven methods that can, and will produce amazing results, sometime in a very short time period.
What I’m talking about today is the very basics I use when conducting SEO campaigns for clients. Although, every campaign is different with each client, the very basic usally stays the same through-out.
#1 – General Directories
Submitting a site to a directory scores a website it’s first solid, or ‘authority’ link. It’s also quick, well it’s really the quickest way for search engines to find & index your pages.
Submit your link to the following directories. I put them in order of most importance:
1 – DMOZ = Free
2 – Yahoo Directory = $299 year
3 – Best of the Web = $99.95 year
4 – Business.com = $299 year
5 – GoGuides.org = $69.95 year
6 – JoeAnt.com = $39.99 year
When you submit your link to directories, try to get listed in more than just one category. If you’re not sure about doing this, or if it is worth your time and money, check search engine result pages for competitor keywords that link to these perticular directories, and if they do, it’s worth every cent of the investment. But if they don’t, your chance to grab ahold of an oportunity that can push your site ahead of the rest is staring you in the face!
#2 – Niche Directories
If you submit your site to directories that gear towards a specific industry (example:yours), it can prove to be more value to you than a general category search engine can have. Most topic specific directories are flexible, topic relevant, and often authoritative. This is a great place to start building links, and it’s often over-looked by competitors.
#3 – Social Media
It’s essential to build profiles on social media sites (obviously you know that, or you wouldn’t be here), in your company name and branding, and also as yourself, a person. This helps you to promote content to large groups of people, which in turn can provide more incoming links to you website. Most media sites don’t actually pass Google PR, but some do. Even if time is short and you can’t fill the profiles out it is still a good idea to reserve your name on the neworks for future. If you look around you will come across a few social media sites that pass Google PageRank and will anchor a text link of your choice on their site for you.
#4 – SERP
This is where time comes into play. Go to Google and do a search of your top keywords. Check out what sites pop up in the top 50 to 100 spots, those are your targets. Results that come first are ranked high with PageRank. Have a look at their site, and look for a ‘Links’ section, and if you find one, request a link. You can also go to sites that are related to yours, but are not competing with your site (related product, etc) and suggest a link exchange to compliment each others sites. One great way is to offer a guest blog or contribute some piece of relevant content to their website. Doing this will gain you a long term link partner.
#5 – Blog!
One great way of building link base, is by creating a blog. You can find tons of free blog hosting through-out the net. Just do a search for ‘Free WeBlog’ or ‘Free Blog Hosting’ and I’m sure you can find one that fits your needs. Once you have your blog, make sure you write about topics that are relevant to your business, and always link to your own domain in posts! If you don’t, the incoming links won’t count and your effort will be truly wasted. After you post a few articles, submit your blog to the top blog directories. Again you can find this information by a simple search. Post links to your articles @ social media sites, and you will see the incoming links increase over time.
#6 – Write Articles That Will Hold Value
This is where creativity and know-how come in. In order for your hard work to be successful, you need to build up your social media profiles and keep an active friend network. Create content that appeals to a social-media audience. The outcome will be more links to your website. Don’t expect every article you write to be a number one, this is a trial and error process, don’t give up. Try different topics for your articles, and when one works it will make up for the rest that flopped.
The way to use these steps is to repeat them in a timed mannor. If you can figure out how to work even one of the six steps, you will be on your way to the top.

I really like the fresh perpective you did on the issue. Really was not expecting that when I started off studying. Your concepts were easy to understand that I wondered why I never looked at it before. Glad to know that there’s an individual out there that definitely understands what he’s discussing. Great job!
